We turn down more households than we serve. When the fit isn't right, the household still deserves a good answer. This page is that answer.
The protection K9 community has been flooded in recent years with overnight operations run by handlers at wildly different levels of experience. Over the years, I have quietly researched a small number of traditional working-K9 houses whose work meets a standard I can stand behind.
These are not partners. They are not affiliates. They are professionals inside the same network sphere whose work I have observed and whose posture I respect.
I do not receive a dollar from any recommendation on this page. Nothing changes hands. I recommend them because they earn it.
K1K9 has no business relationship with any provider I recommend on this page. No referral fees. No commissions. No partnerships. Direct or indirect. These are professionals I have observed over the years within the same network sphere. When we are not the right K9 provider for a household, I would rather point that household to a provider I trust than watch them buy from someone who should not be in this business. If you decide to speak with any of them, do your own diligence. They will speak for themselves.
Founded by Kim Greene in 2005 and now operating on a 170-acre ranch in Park County, Montana. Twenty years of family-forward protection K9 work with more than three hundred dogs placed worldwide. Doctrine: Bred to Love. Trained to Protect. German Shepherd, Dutch Shepherd, and Belgian Malinois crosses, trained from puppyhood and placed at two to three years of age. Family-integrated, travel-capable, thoroughly vetted — and, like us, they reject sport-title training.

Founded and led by Peter Feranec, a corrections K9 professional who spent nine years with the K9 unit of Slovakia’s Leopoldov high-security prison — training and breeding service dogs, earning a senior narcotics-detection qualification, and judging national prison-service K9 trials — before founding the company in 2014.
Slovak working-line German Shepherds, raised in Slovak family homes with children, placed as finished adults at eighteen months or older. Twelve dogs a year. No more. Sport titles explicitly rejected in favor of real-world testing. The same doctrine we hold: the dog acts on the owner’s command, not on his own judgment.
This is a short list by design. It will grow only as we vet more houses to the same standard.
